Woodruff Place Spring Clean Up!

04/30/2011 - 9:00am
04/30/2011 - 12:00pm

Woodruff Place bi-annual clean-ups are a great way to meet your neighbors and help make our neighborhood look much, much better in a few hours. Please save the date—it is greatly appreciated if you can help out on the morning of April 30th.

Each block will meet at the designated location (see list below) to distribute supplies and tackle the streets, esplanades and alleyways. This year will be a little different than in the past---there will NOT be a dumpster behind town hall. Instead, a city-sponsored compactor truck will arrive @ 11:30am to help us collect debris that WP volunteers have gathered during morning cleanup. We will need 3+ volunteers to help load the truck during this “late shift.” Please contact Meredith (919 827 5072 or meredith@mbrickell.com) if you can help.

Things you can do to help with Spring Clean Up:
·         Save your personal yard work and spring cleaning projects for another time and help out with neighborhood projects on April 30th from 9am-12pm.
·         Take care of your personal trash and yard waste using city services before neighborhood clean up day so our volunteer crews can focus on the public spaces. If you have heavy trash for pick up, please put it in the alley in time for the city to pick up on Thursday, April 28th or wait until May 26th (this service is available every 4th Thursday of each month).
·         Clean up the muck from the street in front of your house.  Because the city does not sweep our neighborhood, sediment builds up in the street and eventually clogs our rain gutters. The muck makes great compost for your spring gardening projects...or you can bag it in not-too-heavy bags and leave it in front of your house for volunteers to dispose of on clean up day. Feel free to pick up some garbage bags from the porch of 555 Middle Drive to use for this!
·         Clean up your back alleyway ahead of time. Any work you can do to tidy up trash, tree limbs, etc means we can get more done on clean up day. Debris can be piled in the alley for pick up on clean up day.
Because this is a neighborhood effort designed to clean up our public spaces, we want to avoid wasting time and straining the backs of our volunteers unnecessarily. Please be courteous and help out in any way that you can. If you are not available the morning of April 30th but would still like to help, please contact Meredith Brickell about special projects that need to be done ahead of time: meredith@mbrickell.com or 919 827 5072. Many thanks!
